There was a large-scale rescue attempt at my office today. A scaffolding, the kind with pulleys that hangs down from the top of a building, dropped 2 men from it's trusses when the roof gave way. Bricks crumbled down 7 stories and one side of their scaffold remained - with one man trapped between it and the building and the other dangling from a rope with a bloody head. Seven stories up and 15-20 feet away from our office windows.
The guy pinned to the rooftop also had an i-beam lodged in the back of his skull. It is pretty amazing that they were saved. I wasn't sure if it was possible to save the guy under the scaffolding - as he was attached to it. I didn't think they could lift it all up AND pull the beam out of his head. BUT they did!
